This story is a warning.
You are about to enter a world of crazy—an all-out, raucous, beautiful disaster of a bar that will eat you alive if you let it.
Let’s get right to it: meetSuperdive, now taking keg service (yes, seriously) reservations for their grand East Village opening next week. Enter at your own risk…
Now, the first rule of Superdive is that there are no rules. You can mix your own cocktail behind the bar if you like. There’s no door policy—anyone can come in. You can order a round of beers or a keg of beer, and a cocktail waitress will deliver the keg to your table in a rolling kegerator. You can even sit down and play their Steinway piano underneath a large applause sign.
It’s total lawlessness in bar form. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you walk into quite possibly one of the least adorned bars you’ll ever see—the walls are maroon, the banquettes have floral patterns and there’s even a row of protected seats for ladies who don’t want to deal with gentlemanly advances, delicately dubbed the “f*ck off seats.”
Just drop in with a few (or more) friends, carve out one of the booths along the wall, order up a keg (more exotic orders, like Hitachino or Chimay, take 48 hours, but they have regular kegs in stock), take over the iPod and walk out eight hours later not recalling much of what just happened.
In other words, just like a good dive bar experience, only supersized.

Something tells me if girls sit in the F*** off seats they will get more unwanted attention than if they weren’t.

Today we bring you some late-breaking hard news about a new lounge that is so immensely important that its very existence threatens to change city traffic patterns, create a seismic shift in the population density of lower Manhattan and potentially require Mayor Mike to declare martial law.
Yes, it involves models.
Get yourself ready to bask in the glory of The Model Lounge, a brand-new lounge tightly restricted to fashion models only, now open for a short few months in the basement of Soho’s peppy fashion diner, Delicatessen.
The first thing you should know is that this is a gimmick put on by Vans. But you should also know that any gimmick involving models is usually a worthwhile and noble gimmick. And here’s the deal: no friends, family or chaperones are allowed inside. Just models, standing around, drinking champagne, braiding each other’s hair, having tickle fights and, of course, talking about the elections in Iran.
Now, here’s the catch…you can’t get in unless you can prove you’re a model. So our first advice is to walk straight up to the rope like you were on a catwalk, give a little Blue Steel and talk about your hand-modeling days. If that doesn’t work, not to worry, you’ll figure it out. In the meantime, you can loiter, lollygag and be ready to catch a little model shrapnel as things spin out of control inside.
If you’re skeptical that models will actually show up in between castings, shoots and other model gatherings, the clever folks behind this brilliant little stunt are luring the girls in with free diet sodas, popchips, energy bars and chewing gum (the four model food groups).
And they even created a special menu item for models that includes three stalks of celery and two Parliament Lights.
Just kidding about that last part.
But you believed it, right?
TLC opens the network premiere of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant on July 8 at 9p. The series, produced by Mike Mathis Productions, features stories about women who are completely unaware they were pregnant until they entered labor and delivery. The episodes also feature interactive questions and quizzes.

I wonder what kind of “interactive questions and quizzes will be”? Any Ideas?
Perhaps…
What is the most likely reason you are 9 months pregnant and never noticed?
a. Your boyfriend insists “pulling out” is the most effective form of birth control
b. You are already grossly overweight and pickles and ice cream have always been a fave snack of yours
c. You are F***ing retarded

Most College Grads, who make the move to NYC, go through many of the same embarrassing nightlife phases. Mine (and most other post grads I know) went like this:
First year out of college (06-07)- My nightlife consisted of the horrendous frat-boy esque bars. Begrudgingly, I’ll admit that I frequented the standard midtown fare (McFaddens, Turtle Bay, Sutton Place, Joshua Tree- stop judging me!)
I guess it was hard to let go of the college life. These sweaty, crowded, polo shirt abundant bars filled the void that college left in my new life as a post-grad. I missed the warm, fuzzy college memories that were conjured by the scent of stale beer and the cacophony of slurred renditions of “Sweet Caroline” and “Fat Bottomed Girls”
We all, hopefully, come to a point where we realize how lame these places are (sorry Jimmy! You are still one of my best friends and the best bartender I know at Mcfads and Turtle Bay even though our opinions differ :)
2nd year out of college (‘07- ‘08) I entered a phase of desperately wanting to be a party of the NY “elite”. I was all about being on lists, walking past lines to the most exclusive places (or rather, hobbling past lines because I never learned how to properly walk in 5 in heels). I don’t know what part of me enjoyed this so much. I’m not the least bit outgoing, I’ve never been the type to have tons of friends, I’m rather dorky but for some reason, I got off on getting in places through the power of pure aesthetics During the day, I was a smart, driven, hard-working girl but at night I turned into a gratuitous flirt as shallow as a wading pool. I can’t say I have been proud of either phases of my life but I guess it could have been worse.
Instead of making the trek, to chelsea and meatpacking, in head to toe black and heels that make me hobble, in my third (and current) year out of college, I tend to rock the converse and sip beer at low key bars never above 14th street.
I have to admit, sometimes the nostalgia of phase 1 and phase 2 tempts me to retrograde but, so far, I’ve resisted. As a result of this resisting, I’ve been ignoring these invites I’ve been getting to The Gates, from a PR group, every Tuesday.
Missing quality time with my good friend/ roomie, Bri, I planned a date with her tomorrow night. I don’t know what made me consider, but being that tomorrow is Tuesday, The Gates crossed my mind. Clearly, a phase 2 establishment, my curiosity got the best of me when I read about how exclusive it was.
Alas, I am officially taking the trip back to phase two tomorrow. I’m throwing my converse aside for the evening and checking this place out. Although, I am approaching it with a new attitude. Now that I am a little older, a little more down to earth and a lot more in love :) I will be experiencing a phase two establishment with a phase three attitude. I’m excited to see how my night turns out!
